Patrick Ness Read-A-Thon

In celebration of Patrick Ness’s upcoming release, And the Ocean Was Our Sky, which we’re lucky enough to be launching with The Little Bookroom, we decided to host a read-a-thon with some of Ness’s previous works to get us even more excited!

With harpoons strapped to their backs, the proud whales of Bathsheba’s pod live for the hunt, fighting in the ongoing war against the world of men. When they attack a ship bobbing on the surface of the Abyss, they expect to find easy prey. Instead, they find the trail of a myth, a monster, perhaps the devil himself…

As their relentless Captain leads the chase, they embark on a final, vengeful hunt, one that will forever change the worlds of both whales and men.

If you’re in Melbourne on Thursday 6 September, come along to The Little Bookroom in Carlton North from 6 – 8pm to hear from the illustrator, Rovina Cai, about their collaboration on this phenomenal book.

Grab your ticket to reserve your spot and preorder the book, which will be available for collection on the night! Each ticket also includes a donation to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. So come along, add this much-anticipated book to your TBR, support a worthy cause, and get your book signed by Rovina Cai!

atowosinvitationa5.jpgIn addition to co-hosting the launch, over the next three weeks, we’re going to be reading and rereading Patrick Ness’s books – and we’d love you to join us! Each week you have the choice of two books (or you can read them both if you’re feeling ambitious), and we’ll be chatting about them on our Twitter and Instagram accounts. Spoiler-free, of course.

Up first is A Monster Calls and More Than This, followed by The Rest of Us Just Live Here and Release, and finally, The Knife of Never Letting Go and The Crane Wife. We’re so excited to reread some of our favourites, as well as finally get to those still on our TBRs.

Make sure you grab your tickets to come along to the launch, and we look forward to chatting with you on social media over the next three weeks!
